NSYSA Fall Season Scheduling Update

The NSYSA Fall Scheduling meeting was held August 12 with all Clubs represented and ready!

At 5PM on Wednesday August 16 the "RTS" (Ready To Schedule) REVIEW schedules were sent to Clubs for review any and all home-hosting conflicts.

Barring any conflicts, or late omissions and/or additions of teams from the established schedules, each Club Scheduler will be given the "Go" signal to begin scheduling times and fields no later than Saturday August 19.

After a series of reviews and updates, the goal is that final Fall 2017 Small Side and Recreation schedules will be posted at NSYSAsoccer.org by September 1st.

Coaches and Small Sided referees are encouraged to update their RMA's and review the tips and tasks illustrated under the FAQ sections of both Coaches and Referee tabs.

Contact your Club or the NSYSA VP's of Comp and Admin at: competition@nsysasoccer.org VPadmin@nsysasoccer.org if you have any questions in preparation of the Fall NSYSA season.

We need new Soccer Referees - Introductory Course in Port Orchard

We are looking for more soccer referees for the upcoming Season. Now is your Chance! The single day entry level course is being offered at Port Orchard Saturday, August 12.

The course consists of taking online interactive training (watch video, answer multiple choice questions – time consuming but easy deal) and then attending a 1 day course. I just talked to the instructor (state instructor Rob Riner) and the Port Orchard course is still on!

Champions crowned at 2017 US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships

SEATTLE (June 25, 2017) — The 2017 US Youth Soccer Region IV (West) Championships came to an exciting conclusion on Sunday in Seattle, Wash., as 14 teams claimed titles.
Not only did those sides step off the 60 Acres Soccer Complex fields as Regional Champions, but they also secured berths to the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Championships, which will be played July 24-30 at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas.

Moving up the continuum of age levels to the 13 and above player, this Diploma is designed for an intermediate coach. It is a 12 hour in-person course focused on the 11v11 game with topics including the modern numbering system, formations and systems of play, player competencies and defensive and offensive tactics.
Time Commitment: 12 hours
Testing: No

The overall objective of the Goalkeeping Level 1 Diploma is to explore some of the myths and mystiques surrounding the goalkeeping function. The six-hour course is directed towards the team coach - not the specialist goalkeeper coach. The object is to empower the coach with knowledge and practice methods that will enable the coach to evaluate a goalkeeper in game situations and then design an appropriate practice program for goalkeepers in and outside of team practices. The course includes lecture (theory) and field (practical) sessions.
Time Commitment: 6 hours
Testing: No
Prerequisites: None

The overall objective of the Goalkeeping Level 2 Diploma is to create an optimal learning environment for this specialized position. The 12-hour course is geared towards the specialist goalkeeping coach and the team coach looking for in-depth information surrounding the coaching of goalkeepers. The course includes both lecture (theory) and field (practical) sessions. An NSCAA Goalkeeping Level I Diploma is a prerequisite for this course.

Only U.S. Soccer Instructor in the West!

Congratulations Ian McCallum,

For having successfully completed the U.S. Soccer Instructor License. Ian is, currently, the only instructor eligible to teach U.S. Soccer's D and E Licenses and the new Grassroots courses once they are officially launched in 2018.

During his certification training, Ian additionally contributed to the pilot phase of upcoming U.S. Soccer educational offerings.

Ian is available to liaise with NSYSA member Clubs to arrange and implement D and/or E-License courses on behalf of U.S. Soccer.

With only 16 licensed U.S. Soccer Instructors, and only Ian representing the entire west coast, we are very fortunate to have him as part of NSYSA!

2016-2017 the Laws of the Game

Several important changes have been made to the Laws of the Game for 2016-2017 (effective June 1).

FIFA recognizes the prevalence and usage of smart phones and tablets allow referees, coaches, players and fans to have a full, digital version of the Laws of the Game at their fingertips. This digital book will serve as a reference for all officials instead of the physical book.
