A Poll on Handshake Alternatives to maintain Sportsmanship

Posted: Thursday May 21st, 2020 Expires: 9/15/2020

*

Despite Loss of Handshakes, Sportsmanship Will Continue in Soccer.
The “new normal” post-COVID-19 will include a new “no-no” that cuts at the heart of all sports – the handshake.

The absence of these time-honored ways to express respect for the opponent does not diminish the importance of displaying sportsmanship in youth sports. In fact, experts believe concern for fairness and displays of kindness, respect and graciousness will be more pronounced once sports resume; however, the methods of sharing these feelings will be different.

Take our Poll and share your thoughts on what soccer should replace the handshake with more

Coaching At Home Tips - From PCA

Posted: Monday April 27th, 2020 Expires: 12/31/2020

Our friends at Bainbridge Island Football Club have been so supportive of area NSYSA soccer clubs and families. We encourage you to start sharing BIFC's weekly training program and links to your teams and players.
They even have an app!
It's not a huge time commitment, and it'll give players a structure, guidance and inspiration for their time on the ball.
Much of the ball work can even be done inside on rainy days (if you're brave parents have given the OK...).

Stay Safe. Stay fit. Stay hopeful that we'll be back on the soccer pitch soon! more

The past few weeks have been filled with worry and confusion due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The school semester has been placed on hold, parents are working from home, soccer seasons paused and social distancing implemented. Throughout this time, we will regularly update this page with more fun, soccer-related activities you can do from the comfort of your own home. Share this with a teammate, parent, friend, coach and anyone else you can think of to help spread the soccer cheer! more
